Are you a candidate for a Curly Cut?
Curly Cuts are designed for anyone who exclusively wears their hair curly. We suggest this type of technique for people who falls in the 3B to 4c range (look below at the FAQ’s).
How to arrive to your Curly Cut Appointment:
You will be coming in with your natural curl texture.
Please cleanse and condition. Your hair cannot be more than 2 days dirty.
Fully detangle your hair, and apply minimal product. It’s important to avoid oil based or wax based products. No butters, or anything heavy.
FULLY dry your hair. No damp roots with dry ends. Air dry or diffuse your hair. Please do not put your hair in a pony tail, hair bands, or pins. This will disrupt the natural curl pattern.
Style your hair in a wash-and-wear approach.
We strongly recommend you deeply clarifying your hair if you use any of the following products regularly: Shea Moisture, Aussie, Cantu, Ecostyler, Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Black Castor Oil, or any products containing heavy oils/butters or silicones.
Clarifiers we really love: SOLU by Davines is our go to, however if you are in a bind and cannot get to the salon to purchase SOLU, Trader Joe’s Tea Tree Tingle Shampoo will work. Lastly, adding baking soda to your shampoo acts as a clarifying agent.
Curly Cut FAQ's
What Curl type am I?
How long does a Curly Cut take?
A Curly Cut takes between1.5-3 hours. Please prepare to be in the salon for an extended time.
How much is a Curly Cut?
Our Curly Cut pricing is tiered at $100 and $140.
How often should I get a Curly Cut?
Everyone is different, but length and personal style plays a huge role in determining the time between cuts. On average, we recommend 2-4 services a year.
Do you style the hair Curly?
Yes. The technique is really designed for the wash-and-wear curly person. You will be leaving the salon with your curly texture. Not a flat blow dry.
Sometimes I straighten my hair, will it look good?
Yup, but … the shape is cut and designed to wear in the expanded contour of the curl. While it will translate straight, it may not have as much of a WOW factor.
Will a Curly Cut make my hair Curly?
Nope. You either have curly hair or you don’t. Curls can be damaged and need rehab, but with proper care and attention, you can revive curls from the dead.
I've had a relaxer and trying to rehab my curls; will I need to cut a lot off?
Hmm, tough one. We recommend a big chop. The half-and-half relaxer/curl look is not easy to upkeep. However, your comfort and ease are more important to us. If it takes a few rounds of cuts to get you ready for the big cut, we are here for you.
